Diptic App Reviews

This is NOT a crippled version

It’s actually very easy to change the aspect ratio in this Mac version, although it’s not readily apparent. According to the short Help section on their support site (hightly recommended reading for useful tips): "How do I create a customized layout size? Go to the Finish screen and scroll to the export size options. Enter the largest dimension size (for example: if your desired output was 200x300, you would enter 300 in the right box) in the proper box (left is width and right is height). Then, use the Aspect Ratio slider to achieve the desired dimensions. Moving it to the left will create tall and skinny Diptics, and moving it to the right will create short and wide (landscape) Diptics. You can also manually type the desired ratio in the box to the right of the Aspect Ratio slider." I just tried it to make a collage for a HDTV presentation, setting it to a 16:9 aspect ratio, with a size of 1920x1080 px, and it worked like a charm.

Im loving it!!!

I have used this sooo much on my iPhone 4 since I stumbled upon it after months of searching. Im glad to see its out for my Mac so I can make cool looking high definition photos! THANK you for the super high definition photo option as my photos look so much better with that! I hope to see more awesome updates coming as I have seen for the iOS app. I hope youll release updates that will allow me to make more landscape photo combinations like the iOS $0.99 upgrade option.

Great on iOS. Still needs work for Mac

I know a lot of people are excited to make square photos now-a-days. I would like to be able to alter the page size. Making images that arent square doesnt seem to be an option right now.

love it on my iMac!

Love it soooo much on iMac that I am going to get it for my iPad. Would love it even more if you could use a photo as the backdrop, or at least change it, but for $0.99 I am not complaining… This app rocks. Simple. Easy and Quick to use. Nice app layout.

Good… buuuut

Real nice app! Only two minor irritants.. Id love to be able to drag pictures from one box to another directly, instead of going fishing elsewhere. Also, it would be great to be able to play with the layout, and create your own set of boxes. But for the rest.. Real good, good effects!

What about filters?

А где же фильтры, как в версии для iPad/iPhone ? Add please !!!

Where are the filters?

I purchased this considering to be a Mac-based instagram equivalent, though it turned out its just a frame for photos – no filters at all. Do you think of adding them?

Absolutely cool

With dedicated software (Photoshop, Pixelmator…) you can do everything with some efforts. With this tool you can do a simple thing with no effort at all, and a very good result. Snap! Good price, hope to see some extra layout and finishing option in the future...

Great! Few suggestions.

This app is amazing! And for only 99 cents, its a steal! First: add a lotttttt of frame options, Id like to also see eventually the option to create your own frame options! Second: It takes forever to load when clicking the sharing button, and ocationally locks up, but hasnt crashed yet. Third: Add FACEBOOK support!! Sure I can click mail, then upload via email but save me a few seconds :P

Not high resolution

This app has lots of potential for photographers since its an easy, fast way to make photo collages, but as it is, it is somewhat worthless. It only exports at 72 DPI, which is great for viewing on the web, but is not enough to make prints. I will gladly change my rating if an option to export at 300 DPI is added.

Amazing little app

This is an amazing app that I find myself using all of the time. It is easy, quick and professional looking. Best of all, it is only $.99. Some of the best money I ever spent in the app store.

Uploading pictures

I admit I am not very computer savy but when I click on download, I only get choices for pictures I have downloaded and the iPhoto icon is not lit. Please tell me what I am doing wrong because I would like to use iPhoto. Now that I know how to do this. I really like this app. I wrote to the companies support and they responded quickly. Once they told me how to work with this, I was on my way.

Simple

Diptic is simple and effective! I do wish it had an add text option which would make it perfect for creating memes! Otherwise, everything is so flawless!

good but useless

I enjoy this app because of the many layouts that you can choose from and effects that can help fix your photos. But why do I need this app if I cant even share my collages on Facebook? The JPG and PNG options still do not allow you to share. Please change this!

YES!

Exactly what I was looking for. Simple and very useful. Thanks!

Highly useful App for creating a photo collage!

I use Diptic on both my iPad and iPhone and I really enjoy being able to artfully group several photos in a way that tells a story. I was delighted to find this App available for my Mac. I dont rely on this App to edit my photos, but I frequently need to put a photo collage together quickly. This App is absolutely the most efficient for doing this task. After selecting the template, I just choose the photos I want to place in each box. I really appreciate being able to resize the template boxes to more fully showcase certain photos. When saved in the native Diptic file format, I can go back into that file and swap out any of the photos, if needed. I love that it will save in either png or jpg file formats. Once the collage is exported as a finished jpg or png, its a snap to upload to Twitter or Facebook. For the money, this little App is a complete bargain!

Get it Now!

I searched for something that would allow me to combine pictures with the ease of what I have on my iPhone. This is that and more. Within in seconds of downloading it I had exactly what I was looking for. I was able to build a composite of my favorite pictures. It has controls where you scale each image to get the exact look youre going for. A big plus was that there was no depreciation in the quality of my final image and I was able to export it in a huge size. As a photographer this is extremely important. Best of all it was simple and easy to use. For 99 cents its no brainer. Oh, did I mention that you can save your file and go back to it to make edits and pick up right where you left off? Amazing.

No access to iPhoto or Aperture libraries

Worth nothing until I have access to iPhoto or Aperture library. This app needs more of the functionality of the iOS version. Without it, it borderlines on useless.

Love this app

I was having issues with this app… it wouldnt access any files or save anything. But I restarted my system and it works again. Love using this app!

A Good Start

Im a little dissapointed with this app, especially since it was in the 2012 Best of Mac Apps. The developer needs to find a way to incorporate iPhoto and Aperature as these are the apps where most Mac users store their photos. There are currently 3 headings on the left side of the app: Layout, Photo, Finish. Heres my suggestion: Have 4 headings labelled Layout, Import, Edit, Finish. The "Import" label would allow iPhoto or Aperature photos to appear in the column allowing them to be easily dragged into the selected layout. If something like this cant be done, allow photos to be dragged in from the "iMedia Browser". I tested this and it currently doesnt work with Diptic. I look forward to future updates.
